The Cours de civilisation française de La Sorbonne (CCFS), which is part of the Robert de Sorbon Foundation, is an independent higher education provider. A century of promoting the French language
The CCFS was founded by the University of Paris’s Society of Friends, which was itself founded in 1899, in 1919. Then unique in the world, it aimed to contribute to La Sorbonne’s international renown. The CCFS
is now part of the Robert de Sorbon Foundation, which was approved by the Prime Minister on 14 May 2009 and is named after Robert de Sorbon, La Sorbonne’s founder in 1257.

Throughout the year, the CCFS provides specialist teaching, which is unique in France, meeting the requirements of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
The CCFS has over fifty senior, qualified and experienced teachers. The teaching is organized so that language lessons are given by grammar specialists and phonetics lessons by experts in applied linguistics. Lectures on literature, history, history of art and contemporary society supplement the programmes. The inclusion of culture and civilization in French language learning is what sets the institution apart.
The CCFS hosts students, from absolute beginners to teacher level, who want to learn French and gain an understanding of French culture. It also provides specialist modules and preparation for internationally recognized tests and exams (TCF, DALF, DELF, DFP, etc.) facilitating university admissions.
Preparing for and gaining official, internationally recognized certification in French
The CCFS is an exam centre for official qualifications: TCF, DELF B1 and B2 and DALF C1. It’s also an exam centre for Paris Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIP).
